Friends do not last forever but friendships do!!!!!

The heart of white rose is the purest of friendship. Each petal delicately formed nurtured with tender love and care. The heart of the rose is like the heart of the soul. Its inner beauty shines beyond all. My best friends: the purest friendship I have been blessed to have. Our friendship makes the world glow with so much happiness. It’s a special gift to have a friend as wonderful as you all.

Effects of media on youth……..

The influence of the media on development of children is profound. Thus it is important to discuss with parents about their child’s exposure to media and to provide guidance on age to ensure the appropriate use of all media including television, radio, music, video games and the internet as well.
Television.
Television has the potential to generate both positive and negative effects and many studies have looked on the impact of television on children and adolescents. Not all television programs are bad but the showing the negative effects of exposure to violence, inappropriate and offensive language are convincing. As we all know that there is a relationship between watching violent television programming and increase in violent behavior by children.
Learning.
Television and internet can be a powerful teacher.  The internet has a significant potential for providing children with access to educational information and can be compared with a huge home library.Programs like ‘My world’ are an example of how youths can learn valuable lessons about cooperation and kindness. Moreover, the educational value of ‘Super Spellers’ has been shown to improve the reading, learning and the speaking skills of its viewers. So at times, healthy television can be a beneficial teaching tool.
Videos games.
Some video games may help the development of fine motor skills and coordination, but many of the concern is on the negative effects of it. Violent video games should be discouraged because they have harmful effects on children’s mental developments. As they grow up, their behavior would be violent.
Nutrition.
Since media takes away time from children which they usually spent on play and exercise. Children who are addicted to media are regarded as less physically fit. Through media, children learn about tobacco and alcohol use; whereby they tend to try it and the behavior they depict are violent at the end.
So that is why media literacy is important in students who usually surf net when they have to research for their assignments, presentations or when they need to clarify something. But youths are unaware of their sites they are not supposed to barge in. media literacy helps us understand how media create culture. Media also act as a watch dog over government acts.

I am me…..and I am happy for who I am!!!!

Yes, I am a women, who thinks I am matured enough to make my own decisions but sometimes I am badly criticized for my immaturity. I don’t care what others say for I don’t depend too much on anyone on this world since we all know that even our shadow leaves us behind when we are in darkness.  I am a woman, who laughs harder when I try to explain why I am laughing. I walk into a room and forget why I was there. I count on my fingers on math…..I do cry a lot more than you think I do. I love sweet stuffs and can be happy with such small surprises. I always and always laugh at my own jokes and I always wear a smile on my face though it looks good or not. I do not deliver good presentations. I always do things at the last moment. I do like making new friends.    I do care people who are close to me. So though I may not be important to your life, always remember that no matter how useless you think I am, I am still someone’s reason to smile. :)

College life seems boring day by day, nothing great is happening. Always the same old routines and chores.....quite fade up now....Moreover missing home desperately and wanting to meet my parents as soon as possible!!!
Winning does not always mean being first, winning means you are doing better than you have done before, therefore never lose hope for the things that didn't succeed, there is always a second chance offered!!! Be happy for what you did and keep on fighting with your fear :)

who am i?

WHO AM I?

I am Phuntsho Choden, the same old girl taking BA in English and Media studies. Born on 10th July, I am still a CHECHEY to my parents. As said, the worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know but in knowing who we are. If I talk a bit about myself, I value honesty, commitment and kindness. These are hard and true facts but there is a lot I do not know about myself. Since I am only 20 years old, life has lots of unfolding and uncovering to do in order to fit in this college. I solely came to this college to make my unadventurous and boring life into an enthusiastic one. I heard that college life teaches a lot. I also came here to learn and experience new things. In short I am actually here to groom myself for my better future. Sherubtse as a whole is providing the platform to unfold and I am going to grab this opportunity.
For instance I was confused and asked if I am going the right way …….The past semester passed away so swiftly that when I reflect on what I did 6 months ago, I came to realize that I had done nothing in terms of academic as well as the other activities.. The reason for me lacking behind was mostly due to low self esteem and lack of confidence in myself.  On the other hand, I wasn’t able to overcome my shyness. The second semester, it has almost come to an end and I feel that I have improved a little compared to last semester. So this course is actually helping me get matured and is grooming me year by year. At the end of my degree program, I hope to graduate with the same me but with a different personality. Everyday my knowledge increases and I learn more about myself. I am not worried that I don’t know everything about myself.  As I get older, I am sure I will be able to figure it out.
